2021 GMD T.50

This list's publication was essentially put on hold so that we could include this car. In an era where computers and fancy electronics ultimately govern how a car is allowed to be driven, Gordon Murray, the legendary designer of the McLaren F1, has sought to return a driver-focused car. This means the new GMD T.50 is a hypercar that does things differently than the competition. For starters, aside from the car's 12,100 rpm redline, nothing about it stands out in terms of specs. Closer examination reveals that traditional benchmarks such as 0-60 mph timings, top speeds, and even aerodynamic numbers are not among the car's strongest features. When you drive it, the £2.4 million price tag becomes a lot less misleading. This vehicle was created to provide the most realistic driving experience possible. The return of a 6-speed manual transmission is at the forefront of this.

1981 Delorean DMC-12

If there was ever a car that could characterize a whole generation, it would have to be the Delorean DMC-12. Its unusually appealing silhouette, which combines modern and retro elements, would propel it to cult fame as one of the co-stars of the Back to the Future film series. There is nothing particularly nice or spectacular about it in terms of being an actual automobile. Its 130-horsepower engine could barely get the automobile from 0 to 60 mph in under 10 seconds, leaving you to wonder how Marty McFly managed to get up to the 88 mph required to go through time. The good news is that DeLorean is a firm that still provides restoration services for your DMC-12. You can also order enhancements to bring it up to modern standards, such as an engine tuning kit that would increase the base power plant's output to over 200 horsepower.

1970 Lancia Bertone Stratos HF Zero

Bertone created this one-off prototype for the 1970 Turin Motor Show as a predecessor to the famed Stratos HF rally car. Its dramatic wedge shape influenced later automotive design, notably several of Bertone's Lamborghini and Alfa Romeo vehicles. It competed with Pininfarina's Ferrari Modulo, which was also unveiled at the Turin exhibition. Marcello Gandini of Bertone designed this extraordinary vehicle. Nuccio Bertone planned to nickname the car the Stratolimite because of its space-inspired designs before settling on the final moniker. When Bertone introduced the Alfa Romeo Carabo in 1968, the wedge design was two years ahead of the Stratos.

As a precursor to the legendary Stratos HF rally car, Bertone produced this one-off prototype for the 1970 Turin Motor Show. Its dramatic wedge shape impacted later car design, including various Lamborghini and Alfa Romeo vehicles designed by Bertone. It came up against Pininfarina's Ferrari Modulo, which was also shown at the Turin show. This incredible vehicle was designed by Bertone's Marcello Gandini. Before settling on the ultimate nomenclature, Nuccio Bertone planned to call the car the Stratolimite because of its space-inspired design. Bertone introduced the Alfa Romeo Carabo in 1968, two years before the Stratos, with a wedge design that was two years ahead of the Stratos.

2020 Porsche Taycan Turbo S

The Porsche Taycan is a new production electric vehicle from the German sports car company. It was created to infuse the company's essence into a new platform that is totally powered by electricity, as we've come to expect. It also has the distinction of being the automobile that ushered in Porsche's first foray into electrification as a result. With the arrival of the Taycan, we've entered a new era for Porsche automobiles, and really, a new era for all cars. The Taycan proves that electric cars don't have to be full of compromises. This vehicle aspires to be as good as—if not better than—any other Porsche on the road.

The top-of-the-line Turbo S produces 750 horsepower and goes from zero to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, with a top speed of 260 km/h. It has a range of up to 412 kilometers thanks to its 93.4 kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery. The Taycan is now offered in three trims (4S, Turbo, and Turbo S), although more trims and variants will be added throughout the model's lifespan.

1953 General Motors Firebird 1 XP-21

The 1953 XP-21 Firebird 1 is a one-of-a-kind vehicle that stands out from nearly anything else on the road. Despite its resemblance to a jet plane, the aesthetic was more of a reference to inspiration than to engineering design principles. The aptly-named “Whirlfire Turbo-Power” engine jet-propelled the Firebird 1 via its rear wheels and a transmission; its primary aim was to determine whether a gas turbine engine could be employed as a suitable powertrain for production cars.

2008 BMW Gina Light Visionary Model

The 2008 BMW GINA Light Visionary Model pushes the sculptural design that has already been defined by several production automobiles to new heights. The front and sides of the car, including the doors, form one continuous, seamless whole that converges to form an optical and structural unit. Only four components make up the body. The biggest component stretches from the front of the car to the edge of the windscreen, and down the sides to the back edge of the doors. The large side panels begin at the front, where the rocker panels appear, and continue across the rear wheel arches into the back. The central rear deck portion is the fourth component. In the field of vehicle engineering, the development of a flexible outer shell is groundbreaking. This ground-breaking method unlocks new design, production, and functionality possibilities. Some of the substructure's components can be moved, with electro and electro-hydraulic controls allowing the driver to move them.
