New Luxury Vehicles Coming Out in 2021

Amanda Delatorre • Nov 30, 2020

The pandemic has disrupted everyone’s timelines, and automakers warned months ago that car-lovers will be waiting a little longer for new models. The warning signs were there: auto shows were canceled in both Detroit and New York; publicity stunts have been scarce; and any buzz has muted to an anxious hum. If you’re still anticipating a particular car, manage those expectations. The new luxury vehicles that were to come out in 2021 may get pushed back a year or more.

Originally, automakers had slated 38 redesigned or new 2021 model year vehicles to debut in 2020, but plant shutdowns have delayed launches. Luxury and exotic car buyers are yearning for new ways to reward themselves and finally accepting they’ll have to add patience to their list of virtues. But what is time, really, when a luxury car has the makings of a classic? These models, at least, look like they’ll be worth the wait.

2021 Audi E-Tron GT

Starting around $75,000

We got a glimpse of the E-Tron in Avengers: Endgame , but what’s inside is even better. It shares a chassis with the Porsche Taycan, although top models may be getting a three-motor setup with more than 700 horsepower. It’s still scheduled to appear in dealerships in 2021.

2022 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

Starting around $85,000

The mid-engined C8 Corvette spawns several high-performance variants, and this is the first. By the numbers: with a naturally aspirated DOHC 32-valve, 5.5-liter V-8, it will rev between 8500 and 9000 rpm and boast 600-plus horsepower. It even has a flat-plane crank like a Ferrari V-8. It’s expected to go on sale in early 2021.

2022 Ferrari Purosangue SUV

Starting around $350,000

In case you’re not fluent, purosangue means “thoroughbred,” which is all that the one percent needs to hear. The first Ferrari high-performance SUV is especially exciting, considering Ferrari has traditionally looked down on them. But hey, it’s been good enough for Porsche and Lamborghini. The Purosangue is expected to hit the market in 2022.

2022 Jaguar XJ

Starting around $100,000

Following the E-Pace, F-Pace, and I-Pace, Jaguar’s next-generation XJ is all electric. Not much is known beyond that, but the four-door EV promises a range of more than 300 miles. The sedan will still be sumptuous enough to appeal to its loyal customers—Princess Diana was the third generation of the English royal family to wheel around in an XJ, and William and Kate carry on the tradition in an XJL.

2022 Lexus LQ

Starting around $80,000

Lexus cleared the path with its impressive RX SUV more than two decades ago. Now it’s trying to reignite the flame with this modern SUV range-topping crossover that should deliver the brand’s trademark styling and indulgent comfort. The LQ will have a 416-hp twin-turbo V-6, a 354-hp hybrid powertrain, and a rear-drive platform.

2021 Maserati MC20

Starting around $195,000

It’s not a successor to the MC12, but it is a beauty with a 630-horsepower twin-turbo V-6. It will be available as a two-seater coupe or a convertible, and it will use a carbon fiber structure with aluminum subframes to make it light enough for performing excellence. It should hit U.S. dealerships in 2021.

2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS

Starting around $96,000

The EQS—not the EQC, which has been delayed—will be the first electric Mercedes in the United States. The EQS is being set up as the flagship for the sub-brand, but not many details have been released. The sedan should have a range of 300 miles and accelerate to 60 miles per hour in less than 4.5 seconds. It’s scheduled to be unveiled in the spring and go on sale here this summer.

2022 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS

Starting around $130,000

The RS is lighter, more powerful, more hard-core, more everything than the GT4—including expensive. But there’s not a lot of competition for a two-seater in this class. It’ll handle better on the track and get you to work on time, too. It’s set to arrive in late 2021 or early 2022.

Tesla Cybertruck

Starting around $40,000

The polarizing, triangular space-truck is made of stainless steel, armored glass, and broken promises. In October, Elon Musk admitted he was still tweaking the design with “small improvements.” What? How much? When? According to Musk, “I would say there’s probably a lot of deliveries in 2022 and some deliveries towards the end of next year if things go well.”

Beyond 2021

2025 Apple Car

Known around Apple headquarters as “Project Titan,” the Apple Car will, of course, be a fully electric, self-driving car. It’s still in testing and the details are still under wraps, but 2025 is the earliest we can expect it. Apple-designed chips will integrate hardware, software, and services on four wheels, essentially redefining the car.

2024 Aston Martin Vanquish

The mid-engine supercar is coming for Ferrari’s F8 Tributo, Lamborghini’s Huracan, and the McLaren 720S. It was teased as a concept car at the 2019 auto show in Geneva, and it will cost upwards of $300,000 when it debuts in 2023.

2024 BMW i8

This to-be-named model will be a follow-up to BMW’s plug-in hybrid i8 halo car, which disappointed many. At least its looks, with retro M1-inspired styling, are piquing interest.

2025 Dyson

Yes, that would be the vacuum company that’s coming out with a sports car. It did perfect the vacuum, so why not vehicles? CEO Sir James Dyson raised nearly $3 billion in startup money and plans to move the company toward automaking. It’s unclear if it will be able to achieve its original all-electric vision, but we should be able to count on excellence at any rate.

This is a good time to make a little room in the garage—and some cash—for the new luxury vehicles coming out in 2021 or… whenever. Contact Nahas Motorcars to find out what your high-end vehicle is worth. We can fly out to you, inspect the car, and pay you on the spot. There’s no telling when your next trophy car will be released, but you should be ready for it.
